Overview

Hola Mahalla is a Sikh festival celebrated annually in Anandpur Sahib, a holy city in Punjab, India. It typically takes place in the month of March, a day after the Hindu festival of Holi. The festival was established by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, in the late 17th century as a gathering for Sikhs to display their martial skills and engage in mock battles.

During Hola Mahalla, Sikhs from various parts of the world come together to commemorate the festival. The main objective of the festival is to promote courage, bravery, and martial arts skills among the Sikh community. The festival showcases the martial traditions and martial arts prowess of the Sikhs.

Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi Arrival 20 March 24

On arrival at Delhi, Imperial Voyages representative will meet & greet with the traditional "Namaste" gesture-Two hands joined together in welcome, hospitality and culture that makes a journey to India so memorable and transfer to hotel.

Post breakfast starts Delhi sightseeing to explore historical and cultural parts of Old and New Delhi. Start your day with old Delhi with Jama Masjid. This mosque completed in the year 1656 and made it the biggest mosque all over in India. Drive past or if you wish you may visit Red Fort. Walking tour of Chandani Chawk. One of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi. Enjoy a Cycle Rickshaw Ride which takes you through the narrow streets of the old Delhi Market Chandni Chowk. Raj Ghat: the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi who is remembered as the Father of Nation.
Afternoon continue Sightseeing of New Delhi
India Gate: The India Gate (originally the All-India War Memorial) stands as a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army, who died in between 1914–1921 during the First World War.
Agrasen ki Baoli (ancient water reservoir)- this attraction is a historical monument situated in the heart of city near Connaught Place. Agrasen ki Baoli is an ancient water reservoir which rises from the depths of the earth to stand atop 103 stone steps.
Humayun's Tomb – This first Mughul construction is in such great size and known as first Taj mahal. This heritage site constructed for the Mughal emperor in the mid-16th century by his wife Haji Begum.

Day 03: Delhi – Amritsar by Train Shatabdi Express 22 March 24

Your tour starts with the first Rail journey of this program. Board into Delhi Amritsar Shatabdi and arrive afternoon at Amritsar.
Afternoon start a tour to taste Indian food. Amritsar is renowned for its delicious Punjabi cuisine. The city offers a variety of culinary delights, including Amritsari kulcha (a type of stuffed bread), Amritsari fish, lassi (a traditional yogurt-based drink), and various other Punjabi vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The street food scene in Amritsar, particularly around the Golden Temple area, is vibrant and famous.

An early morning visit to Harmandir Sahib known as golden temple to witness the procession of the Holy Book from shri Akal Thakat sahib to the main shrine. Golden Temple is the most iconic landmark in Amritsar and the holiest shrine for Sikhs. It is a place of worship, spiritual solace, and community gathering. The temple is known for its stunning architecture, including the gilded dome covered in gold leaf. The holy book of Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib, is revered and displayed inside the temple.
After the visit have a breakfast in the Hotel. Later, visit the Ranjeet Panorama or Jallianwala Bagh. Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden located near the Golden Temple. It holds great historical significance as the site of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, where British colonial forces opened fire on a peaceful gathering, resulting in the loss of many lives.
Baaghand Partition Museum. There are many stories of rich and famous whose wealth turned into Dust, and they must leave their parental house and town. It showcases personal stories, artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the partition.

After breakfast drive to Chandigarh. Chandigarh is known for its well-planned infrastructure, beautiful gardens, and a blend of modernity and cultural heritage. It serves as a gateway to the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas and is a vibrant city with a distinct identity. Afternoon Sightseeing of Rock Garden, Chandigarh Rose Garden and Capitol Complex: The Capitol Complex in Chandigarh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 06: Chandigarh – Anandpur Hola Mohalla 25 March 24

Full Day excursion to Anandpur Sahib and visiting the festival of colors. Here you will witness how the Nihang’s celebrate Holi. That is related to velour.
Hola Mohalla starts off with the Nagar Kirtan, which is a procession led by the Panj Pyare (five beloved ones) and includes various religious and cultural displays. The procession also includes the performance of Gatka’s, a traditional Sikh martial art form. The stunning martial arts displays, mock battles, and other colorful events are mighty impressive. The focus of the festival is on promoting the Sikh values of service, bravery,
and selflessness.
On this three-day grand festival, mock battles, exhibitions, displays of weapons, etc. are held, followed by Kirtan, music, and poetry competitions. The participants perform daring feats, such as Gatka (mock encounters with real weapons), tent pegging, bareback horse-riding, standing erect on two speeding horses and various other feats of bravery.
On the last day a long procession, led by Panj Payaras, starts from Thakat Shri Keshgarh sahib one of the five Sikh religious seats, and passes through various important Gurdwaras like Quila Andgarh, Lohgarh sahib, Mata Jitoji and terminates at the starting place (Keshgarh Sahib).

Once again drive to Anandpur Sahib. Let us explore it again and find new ways to take photographs. Every day there are some exclusive activities. Overnight stay in Chandigarh.

After breakfast drove to Rishikesh. En-route take a stop Haridwar.
The city is known for its rich cultural and religious heritage. Haridwar is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures and is believed to be one of the places where drops of the elixir of immortality, known as Amrita, fell during the mythological Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) by the gods and demons. Explore the city with a local Guide and roam around Ganges.

Day 09: Rishikesh 28 March 24

Rishikesh is situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges, which is considered sacred in Hinduism This city known as the "Yoga Capital of the World" and the "Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. The city is dotted with numerous ashrams, temples, and yoga centers where visitors can participate in yoga and meditation retreats, attend spiritual discourses, and learn various aspects of Hindu philosophy and spirituality.
Here we can have morning and evening 2 Yoga session with yoga Guru.
Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

Day 10: Rishikesh – Delhi (260KM 5hrs drive) 29 March 24

After breakfast drive back to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, check in at the hotel to connect flight for your destination.
