It is the most important Ghat on the River Ganga, where a holy dip is a must for every devotee.

Lakshman Jhula is an iron suspension bridge in Rishikesh. As per legend Lord Rama and his younger brother Laxmana crossed the River ganges here.Originay it was jute rope hanging bridge till 1889. The jute-rope bridge was replaced by iron - ropesuspension bridge in 1889, and after it was washed away in the 1924 floods. The current bridge was constructed by the public works department during the year 1927-1929 which replaced the old bridge.In 1986 around 2 Kms from Laxam Jula nearby Shivananda Nagar Ram Jhula was Built.
